About the role
Responsibilities
- Execute strategic action plans and administer program funds for the Computational Biology and Medicine Program
- Manage a program-wide data management system, ensuring data is cataloged with appropriate metadata
- Monitor internal storage use and oversee data deposition in public and controlled-access repositories
- Assist researchers in cleaning, curating, and annotating genomics data following FAIR Data Principles
- Harmonize data from various methods including whole genome sequencing, RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, and ATAC-seq
- Facilitate secure data access applications and large dataset transfers within UHN and external institutions
- Organize program-wide training, workshops, and annual retreats
- Manage the program's online presence, including the website and social media accounts
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, genetics, or a related field with 2+ years of computational genomics research experience (or Master's degree with 1+ years of experience)
- Proficiency in programming with R, Python, or both
- Experience with the analysis of high-throughput genomics data
- Strong scientific writing skills demonstrated through publications or preprints
- Familiarity with NCBI GEO
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or doctoral degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, data science, or related fields
- Authorship of publications showing excellence in data management and sharing
- Familiarity with RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, CUT&RUN, or single-cell genomics assays
- Familiarity with major sequencing repositories such as EGA and dbGaP
- Experience managing and administering budgets
