The Opening Doors and Unlocking Potential team works to create pipelines into meaningful work and break down barriers to housing opportunities for formerly incarcerated individuals through legislative advocacy and technical assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop state-based strategies to advance policy changes and provide technical assistance
  • Cultivate relationships with partners and stakeholders to implement strategies
  • Provide advocacy support including meeting with policymakers and building coalitions
  • Lead meetings, conference calls, webinars, and site visits
  • Track and monitor relevant state and federal policies
  • Draft and finalize program materials, work plans, and guidance documents
  • Conduct background research and literature reviews for reports
  • Co-author content such as program reports, fundraising proposals, and blog posts
  • Support team logistics, event planning, and internal documentation

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in political science, criminal justice, public policy, or related field
  • 3+ years of relevant experience (or equivalent work/life experience)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Ability to travel around the country

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in reentry, workforce development, affordable housing, or homelessness
  • Knowledge of policy change processes
  • Knowledge of housing finance
