Professor Small Animal Surgeon

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical and didactic teaching in small animal surgery courses and laboratories
• Supervise the small animal surgery clinical clerkship and participate in Veterinary Skills courses
• Engage in curriculum development and the creation of innovative learning resources
• Participate in university committee service, including admissions, curriculum, and research
• Develop independent or collaborative research in the field of small animal surgery (tenure track)
• Promote a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusiveness within the academic community

Requirements

• DVM or equivalent degree with expertise in small animal surgery
• Specialty board certification or eligibility by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS)
• Proven ability to interact effectively with administration, faculty, students, and alumni
• Working knowledge of curricular design and implementation

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced training in small animal surgery and research with a PhD
• Experience serving as a course director for surgical curriculum
