Responsibilities
- Provide clinical and didactic teaching in small animal surgery courses and laboratories
- Supervise the small animal surgery clinical clerkship and participate in Veterinary Skills courses
- Engage in curriculum development and the creation of innovative learning resources
- Participate in university committee service, including admissions, curriculum, and research
- Develop independent or collaborative research in the field of small animal surgery (tenure track)
- Promote a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusiveness within the academic community
Requirements
- DVM or equivalent degree with expertise in small animal surgery
- Specialty board certification or eligibility by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS)
- Proven ability to interact effectively with administration, faculty, students, and alumni
- Working knowledge of curricular design and implementation
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced training in small animal surgery and research with a PhD
- Experience serving as a course director for surgical curriculum
