Professor of Small Animal Surgery

Responsibilities

• Participate in the University’s tri-partite mission of teaching, research, and service
• Provide classroom, clinical, and laboratory instruction to veterinary students, graduate students, interns, and graduate veterinarians
• Engage in creative scholarship and collaborative research activities related to small animal surgery
• Deliver clinical surgical services to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH)
• Participate in after-hours and on-call emergency duty
• Develop strong professional relationships with referring veterinarians
• Participate in state and national outreach, continuing education, and university committees

Requirements

• DVM or equivalent degree
• Documented clinical competence in small animal surgery
• Documented clinical competence in medical and surgical management of small animals
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a diverse, collegial team environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Board certification by the ACVS or ECVS (board-eligible candidates will be considered)
• Three to four years of postgraduate clinical experience
• Experience in a small animal rotating internship or as a clinical instructor in an academic setting
