About the role
Responsibilities
- Participate in the University’s tri-partite mission of teaching, research, and service
- Provide classroom, clinical, and laboratory instruction to veterinary students, graduate students, interns, and graduate veterinarians
- Engage in creative scholarship and collaborative research activities related to small animal surgery
- Deliver clinical surgical services to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH)
- Participate in after-hours and on-call emergency duty
- Develop strong professional relationships with referring veterinarians
- Participate in state and national outreach, continuing education, and university committees
Requirements
- DVM or equivalent degree
- Documented clinical competence in small animal surgery
- Documented clinical competence in medical and surgical management of small animals
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a diverse, collegial team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Board certification by the ACVS or ECVS (board-eligible candidates will be considered)
- Three to four years of postgraduate clinical experience
- Experience in a small animal rotating internship or as a clinical instructor in an academic setting
