About the role
Responsibilities
- Teach Elementary and Secondary Methods and Materials courses for music education majors
- Provide instruction in Class Piano and applied Private Piano lessons
- Supervise and mentor music education interns in alignment with state and institutional standards
- Accompany vocal and instrumental students for lessons, juries, and recitals
- Teach Music Appreciation courses for general education students
- Participate in departmental planning, student recruitment, and university service
- Assist with university band rehearsals and performances as an Assistant Band Director (as qualifications allow)
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in music education
- Professional teaching experience in K-12 music education
- Proficiency in collaborative piano and accompanying
- Strong commitment to the mission and values of Christian higher education
- Must be an active member of a local Christian church consistent with evangelical Southern Baptist beliefs
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a music-related field
- Experience with CAEP accreditation and state licensure requirements
- Instrumental teaching or conducting experience
