About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical expertise and medical oncology services for all species within the Veterinary Teaching Hospital.
- Manage oncology cases on a rotating basis, including primary responsibility and oversight of cases managed by interns and residents.
- Instruct and mentor oncology residents, interns, veterinary students, and supervising technologists.
- Engage in scholarly activities, including teaching, didactic lectures, and research (primary or collaborative) in areas such as clinical trials or basic research.
- Participate in departmental governance and serve on university committees as needed.
Requirements
- DVM or equivalent degree.
- Successful completion of a residency training program accredited by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Oncology).
- Board certification (ACVIM Oncology) is required for Associate and Full Professor levels.
- For Associate Professor: 5 years of related research, teaching, or clinical experience.
- For Full Professor: 8 years of related research, teaching, or clinical experience.
- Ability to work a variety of shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Physical capability to lift over 50 pounds and perform various physical tasks required for clinical practice.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in conducting clinical trials or basic oncology research.
- Proven track record of scholarly publication and academic contribution.
