Professor of Medical Oncology

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical expertise and medical oncology services for all species within the Veterinary Teaching Hospital.
• Manage oncology cases on a rotating basis, including primary responsibility and oversight of cases managed by interns and residents.
• Instruct and mentor oncology residents, interns, veterinary students, and supervising technologists.
• Engage in scholarly activities, including teaching, didactic lectures, and research (primary or collaborative) in areas such as clinical trials or basic research.
• Participate in departmental governance and serve on university committees as needed.

Requirements

• DVM or equivalent degree.
• Successful completion of a residency training program accredited by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Oncology).
• Board certification (ACVIM Oncology) is required for Associate and Full Professor levels.
• For Associate Professor: 5 years of related research, teaching, or clinical experience.
• For Full Professor: 8 years of related research, teaching, or clinical experience.
• Ability to work a variety of shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Physical capability to lift over 50 pounds and perform various physical tasks required for clinical practice.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in conducting clinical trials or basic oncology research.
• Proven track record of scholarly publication and academic contribution.
