Professor of Companion Animal Surgery

Responsibilities

• Participate in the Companion Animal Surgery Service of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital
• Cooperate with clinical faculty in clinical teaching and hospital practice
• Support the emergency service through the provision or supervision of companion animal surgery
• Engage in scholarly activities, including teaching and collaborative research (Tenure-track focus)
• Provide high-quality surgical care to clients and patients using state-of-the-art technology

Requirements

• DVM or equivalent degree
• Successful completion of an ACVS or ECVS accredited residency training program
• Board certification or eligibility for board certification by the ACVS or ECVS
• Eligibility to obtain a faculty license for the State of Louisiana
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical tasks including standing, walking, bending, and squatting
• Ability to work a variety of shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays

Preferred Qualifications

• Diplomate in the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS)
• Experience in clinical investigation and/or team-based research
