Professor, Cardiovascular Perfusion

Responsibilities

• Deliver full-day laboratory instruction for perfusion students, including hands-on training with heart-lung machines and ancillary equipment
• Facilitate case-based simulation exercises replicating clinical scenarios for open-heart surgery and transplant procedures
• Lead program design, assessment, evaluation, and continuous quality improvement initiatives
• Prepare, maintain, and reset laboratory learning spaces, equipment, and materials
• Provide on-site instructional support and answer student inquiries regarding program requirements and competencies
• Document student progress and competency achievement, contributing to follow-up learning plans
• Coordinate student lab schedules and manage laboratory supplies and inventory

Requirements

• Masters level education in a discipline-relevant field
• Certification by the Canadian Society of Clinical Perfusion (CSCP) or American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP)
• Membership in relevant professional association(s)
• Demonstrated clinical perfusion experience and currency

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of demonstrated clinical experience as a perfusionist
• Previous teaching experience in a post-secondary or clinical setting
