Professional Safety Officer

Responsibilities

• Proactively monitor campus activity through foot or vehicle patrols
• Respond to emergency incidents and administer first aid/CPR/AED as needed
• Engage with community members in a culturally responsive and professional manner
• Secure campus buildings and perimeter gates, including checking fire panels
• Assist local fire and law enforcement personnel during emergency operations
• Perform dispatcher duties, including answering multi-line phones and data entry
• Utilize verbal de-escalation and weaponless defensive tactics to manage volatile situations
• Provide campus assistance such as walking escorts, shuttle transports, and vehicle jump starts
• Write detailed incident reports and maintain accurate records

Requirements

• 2 years of experience in safety/security, customer service, or equivalent training
• High school diploma or GED
• Valid driver’s license held for at least 2 years
• First aid/CPR/AED certification (provided upon employment)
• Ability to work the Saturday–Tuesday, 4:00pm–2:00am shift

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• Experience working in an academic or university setting
• Previous experience in a professional safety or security role
• Experience writing regular activity and incident reports
