Professional Safety Officer

Responsibilities

• Proactively monitor campus activity through foot or vehicle patrols
• Respond to emergency incidents and administer first aid or AED assistance
• Engage with community members in a culturally responsive and professional manner
• Secure campus buildings and perimeter gates, including checking fire panels
• Utilize verbal skills and weaponless defensive tactics to diffuse volatile situations
• Perform dispatcher duties, including answering multi-line phones and data entry
• Assist local fire and law enforcement personnel during official duties
• Provide campus assistance such as vehicle jump starts, walking escorts, and shuttle transports
• Write detailed incident reports and maintain accurate documentation

Requirements

• 2 years of experience in safety/security, customer service, or equivalent training
• High school diploma or GED
• Valid driver’s license held for at least 2 years
• First aid/CPR/AED certification (provided upon employment)
• Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and driving abstract check

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• Experience working in an academic setting
• Previous experience within a safety or security environment
• Experience writing regular activity reports
