About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex engineering projects independently from initial concept through to final closeout
  • Provide advanced technical judgment and informal mentorship to junior engineers within the department
  • Take full ownership of assigned capital and operational projects, including scope development and technical design
  • Manage project costs, tracking, and budgets to ensure alignment with organizational goals
  • Oversee consultants and manage construction activities to ensure projects are delivered safely and on schedule
  • Communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license issued by the State of Iowa
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record (must remain insurable under company coverage)
  • For Professional Engineer role: At least 4 years of experience in designing civil, environmental, structural, mechanical, electrical, chemical, or process improvements
  • For Project Manager role: At least 8 years of progressive engineering experience, including 2 years in water treatment, facilities, or process-related projects

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Science in Engineering
  • IDNR Grade II Water Distribution Operator and/or Grade II Water Treatment License
  • Proven experience designing and constructing water system improvement projects
