About the role

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain automation infrastructure to pre-process and import terrain, land use, and rainfall data into flood modeling platforms via APIs.
  • Manage large-scale spatial datasets and perform conversions between diverse formats including GeoTIFF, ASCII, NETCDF, and Vector data.
  • Process and integrate Remote Sensing data such as satellite imagery, LiDAR, and SAR to extract land-cover features and elevation models.
  • Automate large-scale simulation batches across multiple return periods and scenarios.
  • Develop GIS workflows to translate raw model results into production-grade spatial layers and hazard maps.
  • Collaborate with Hydrologists and Engineers to define technical requirements for model calibration and workflow enhancements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Geoinformatics, Hydrology, Civil/Environmental Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience writing and debugging code for data analysis or environmental/flood modeling.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB.
  • Proven expertise in GIS and developing automated scripts to handle large-scale spatial datasets.
  • Extensive experience with spatial visualization libraries and third-party tools for building maps and dashboards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with advanced raster/vector processing, including terrain analysis and watershed delineation.
  • Fundamental understanding of hydrologic processes and 1D/2D hydrodynamic flood models.
  • Proficiency in SQL and relational/spatial databases.
  • Experience deploying data workflows on cloud platforms like GCP, AWS, or Azure.
  • Knowledge of statistical foundations including flood frequency analysis and extreme value statistics.
  • Experience with Generative AI.
