Professional Advisor

Responsibilities

• Facilitate student academic and professional goals through degree planning and registration assistance
• Manage an assigned advising portfolio of approximately 150-250 students, including traditional and adult learners
• Collaborate with Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, and Student Success departments to ensure seamless student support
• Provide guidance on graduation requirements, timelines, and major selection in partnership with Career Services
• Conduct face-to-face and online check-ins with advisees to support retention and success
• Document all student interactions electronically and process registration paperwork accurately
• Utilize the Colleague management system to assist with student registration and record management

Requirements

• Master's degree from an accredited higher education institution
• Experience working within a higher education environment
• Experience working with diverse populations
• Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and occasional weekends

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous academic advising experience
• Spanish language proficiency
• Experience working with adult learners or in Professional & Graduate Studies (PGS)
• Experience in mentoring, coaching, or conflict resolution
• Leadership or management experience in a university setting
