Professional Advisor

Responsibilities

• Facilitate and empower students toward fulfilling academic and professional goals through dedicated advising.
• Manage an assigned advising portfolio of approximately 150-250 students, including both traditional and adult learners.
• Partner with students on degree planning, graduation requirements, and timeline to degree.
• Collaborate with department faculty, financial aid, registrar, and student success personnel to ensure robust support services.
• Provide initial advising and registration assistance to new students in coordination with the Admissions office.
• Document student contact electronically and process registration paperwork accurately.
• Support institutional student retention goals and participate in university professional development.

Requirements

• Master's degree from an accredited higher education institution.
• Experience working in a higher education environment.
• Experience working with diverse populations.
• Proficiency in Windows, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and occasional weekends.
• Commitment to the mission and Christian identity of Warner Pacific University.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous academic advising experience.
• Spanish language skills.
• Experience working with adult learners.
• Experience in mentoring, coaching, or leadership roles.
• Experience in conflict management and resolution.
