About the role
Responsibilities
- Hire and supervise a team of production technicians and welders to build electromechanical parts and assemblies
- Execute production plans, priorities, and schedules provided by manufacturing management
- Organize daily task lists and workflow by assigning responsibilities to team members
- Lead cross-functional daily stand-up meetings focused on quality, cost, and delivery
- Establish safety plans and protocols in collaboration with EHSS and ensure work area cleanliness
- Run training programs for key team skill sets and processes
- Manage timecards, perform biannual reviews, and handle personnel issues in partnership with HR
- Perform R&D and prototype hardware builds with minimal documentation
- Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing discrepancies with a focus on continuous improvement
Requirements
- High school diploma or higher
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a formal manufacturing leadership role
- Minimum of 10 years of technical experience including mechanical and electrical assembly, plumbing, vacuum, and cryogenic systems
- Demonstrated ability to read and understand technical and electrical drawings, manuals, and reports
- Proficiency in MS Office products (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Visio)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical activities such as standing or sitting for extended periods
- Dedication to safety in environments involving heat, cold, noise, high voltage, and cryogenics
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with lean manufacturing, 5S, and Six Sigma principles
- Experience navigating assemblies in 3D CAD software
- Experience with winding equipment of any type
