About the role
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and solve technical issues in live broadcast environments, including production control rooms, studios, and master control
- Support all production systems at Versant Media locations and remote production sites
- Analyze and troubleshoot complex audio/video workflows and signal flows in SDI and IP 2110 environments
- Act as an on-call engineer to address technical support requests from production operations
- Maintain broadcast technology systems, including switchers, video routers, and encoders/decoders, to ensure reliability
- Document technical issues and resolutions, escalating to advanced support teams as necessary
- Collaborate with Engineering and Operations to optimize broadcast workflows in a fast-paced environment
Requirements
- 2+ years of recent experience supporting live television production environments
- Proficiency in troubleshooting SDI and IP 2110 workflows
- Knowledge of audio formats including AES, MADI, AES67, Ravenna, and Dante
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP protocols, computer networking, and storage infrastructures
- Experience with virtualized systems such as VMs and Containers
- Ability to work onsite and support a 24/7 environment, including rotational shifts, overnights, weekends, and holidays
- Bachelor’s degree in Broadcasting, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent work experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Evertz products (Magnum, EXE, Routers, SDVN, VUE, VIP)
- Knowledge of SMPTE 2110 standards and SONY Production Switchers
- Experience with VizRT, Ross, and Chyron systems
- Familiarity with Cloud and VM-based applications and platforms
- Ability to read and interpret AutoCAD drawings
- Proficiency with JIRA, Confluence, and other ticketing systems
