Production Editor

Responsibilities

• Oversee the copyediting and publication process for scholarly and trade books.
• Evaluate manuscripts, assign freelance editors, and track projects through the copyediting process.
• Set budgets and schedules in consultation with the managing editor and manage invoices.
• Coordinate page proof reviews with authors and finalize corrections.
• Act as the primary liaison between authors and the Press.
• Prepare and format manuscripts for electronic editing using specialized toolkits.
• Perform editorial work on reprints, new paperbacks, and index cleaning.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with 1 year of relevant experience.
• Relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
• Proven experience working on the staff of a publishing house as a copyeditor, production editor, or managing editor.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 years of relevant experience in publishing.
