Product Safety Department Manager

Responsibilities

• Lead the strategic and day-to-day execution of safety compliance for medical devices, laboratory equipment, and household appliances
• Manage a team of engineers and oversee the safety laboratory, including equipment upkeep and calibration needs
• Perform product testing in accordance with standards such as power input, leakage current, dielectric, and flammability
• Provide technical support to the sales team, including project scoping, quotations, and attending product reviews
• Review technical reports, test plans, and schematics
• Train and mentor junior technical staff
• Conduct preliminary design reviews (PDR) both on-site and off-site

Requirements

• Four-year college degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent work experience
• 9+ years of product safety experience in a testing, inspection, or certification laboratory
• 2+ years of management experience
• Deep technical knowledge of IEC 62368-1, IEC 61010-1, and IEC 60601-1
• Ability to travel up to 25% as business needs dictate
• Experience representing laboratories in external audits (e.g., A2LA, IECEE, SCC, or OSHA)

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of IEC 60335-1
• Experience with IECEE rules and regulations
