About the role
Responsibilities
- Partner closely with Product and Engineering to provide pragmatic guidance across the product lifecycle
- Advise on data collection, retention, consent, and privacy-by-design principles
- Own Parallel's privacy and data protection program, including policies, DPAs, and data mapping
- Ensure compliance across GDPR, CCPA, and emerging AI and state privacy laws
- Build scalable templates, playbooks, and self-service tools for the legal function
- Negotiate DPAs and data licensing deals
Requirements
- J.D. and active U.S. bar membership (California preferred)
- 5+ years of privacy, data protection, or product counseling experience
- Deep knowledge of GDPR, CCPA, and legal frameworks shaping AI products
- Technical fluency regarding data pipelines, anonymization, and zero-retention architectures
- Ability to work fully in-person in San Francisco or Palo Alto
