Product & Privacy Counsel

Responsibilities

• Partner closely with Product and Engineering to provide pragmatic guidance across the product lifecycle
• Advise on data collection, retention, consent, and privacy-by-design principles
• Own Parallel's privacy and data protection program, including policies, DPAs, and data mapping
• Ensure compliance across GDPR, CCPA, and emerging AI and state privacy laws
• Build scalable templates, playbooks, and self-service tools for the legal function
• Negotiate DPAs and data licensing deals

Requirements

• J.D. and active U.S. bar membership (California preferred)
• 5+ years of privacy, data protection, or product counseling experience
• Deep knowledge of GDPR, CCPA, and legal frameworks shaping AI products
• Technical fluency regarding data pipelines, anonymization, and zero-retention architectures
• Ability to work fully in-person in San Francisco or Palo Alto
