Product Manager, Bio Safety

Responsibilities

• Partner with research, engineering, data science, and policy teams to embed safety throughout the development and deployment of frontier AI models.
• Develop comprehensive frameworks for understanding and mitigating biosecurity deployment risks using data analysis and adversarial assessments.
• Define strategic priorities and product roadmaps focused on improving deployment safety and managing emerging AI capabilities.
• Create scalable methodologies, tools, and processes for evaluating and continuously improving safety systems.
• Establish repeatable processes to integrate cutting-edge AI safety research into OpenAI’s models and product offerings.
• Develop and refine actionable metrics to capture safety performance and user experience at scale.

Requirements

• 6+ years of product management or related industry experience.
• Expertise in AI safety, trust & safety, integrity, or related domains.
• Background in biology.
• Proven experience driving consensus and action in highly ambiguous environments.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly.

• Deep curiosity and interest in interdisciplinary fields such as human-computer interaction, psychology, or philosophy.
• Ability to identify and challenge underlying assumptions and constraints through insightful questioning.
• Experience working in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
