Product Development Manager - Ocean

Responsibilities

• Drive strategic growth, pricing, and profitability for international ocean trade lanes, specifically supporting Trans-Atlantic routes between the USA and the Nordic-Baltic region.
• Develop and manage ocean freight products and services to meet market demands and company objectives.
• Collaborate with regional and local product teams to procure competitive rates and maintain strong carrier relationships.
• Act as a key liaison for Tender and RFQ processes, ensuring accurate and timely responses to internal stakeholders.
• Provide consistent market updates, including insights on pricing trends, capacity changes, and commercial route developments.
• Develop and maintain pricing strategies on selected trades and lead initiatives for forecasting rates on critical routes.
• Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify growth opportunities and align product offerings with customer requirements.
• Optimize cargo and carrier mixes to improve overall profitability.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in international ocean freight forwarding or ocean product development.
• Strong knowledge of global ocean trade lanes, key port geographies, and maritime routing.
• Excellent negotiation skills for securing competitive carrier rates and customer pricing.
• Fluency in English.
• Proficiency in a second language relevant to the Scandinavian region.

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Business, or a related field.
• Experience working specifically with the Nordic, Baltic, or Scandinavian regions.
• Ability to analyze maritime market trends, capacity fluctuations, and ocean pricing data.
