About the role
Responsibilities
- Design and create 3D models and drawings using Creo or Solidworks
- Develop and manage new product designs from initial concept through mass production
- Build and validate prototypes with internal and external partners to support product launch strategies
- Develop Bill of Materials (BOMs) and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for manufacturing
- Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to ensure high levels of craftsmanship and quality
- Conduct product testing to ensure compliance with quality standards
- Engineer and evaluate material usage to optimize product costs
- Collaborate within cross-functional teams to drive innovation in upholstered seating frames, foam, and upholstery solutions
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in applied arts or equivalent professional experience
- 5 years of professional engineering experience leading development projects
- Experience designing and engineering plywood and solid wood upholstered chair frames
- Proficiency in Creo or Solidworks
- Experience with foam and upholstery construction
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with frame construction, foam up, and upholstery
- A mature sense of comfort and feel regarding upholstered products
- Strong problem-solving skills with a keen understanding of brand aesthetics
