Product Development Engineer - Upholstery

Responsibilities

• Design and create 3D models and drawings using Creo or Solidworks
• Develop and manage new product designs from initial concept through mass production
• Build and validate prototypes with internal and external partners to support product launch strategies
• Develop Bill of Materials (BOMs) and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for manufacturing
• Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to ensure high levels of craftsmanship and quality
• Conduct product testing to ensure compliance with quality standards
• Engineer and evaluate material usage to optimize product costs
• Collaborate within cross-functional teams to drive innovation in upholstered seating frames, foam, and upholstery solutions

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in applied arts or equivalent professional experience
• 5 years of professional engineering experience leading development projects
• Experience designing and engineering plywood and solid wood upholstered chair frames
• Proficiency in Creo or Solidworks
• Experience with foam and upholstery construction

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with frame construction, foam up, and upholstery
• A mature sense of comfort and feel regarding upholstered products
• Strong problem-solving skills with a keen understanding of brand aesthetics
