Product Development Engineer

Responsibilities

• Optimize electronic hardware designs for producibility by providing expertise in electrical circuit design and manufacturability for PCBs and CCAs
• Communicate technical knowledge regarding the design and manufacturability of printed circuit boards and circuit card assemblies
• Use specialized tools to predict manufacturability performance prior to program design commitment
• Generate PCB/CCA standard notes, create PreCAD data packages, and support alternative design solutions to meet affordability goals
• Perform technology selection, trade-off analysis, and producibility assessments
• Interface with design stakeholders and fabrication/assembly suppliers
• Act as a Subject Matter Expert for PWB/CCA during product transitions from supplier to supplier

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics)
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) or Printed Wiring Board (PWB) manufacturing or shop processes
• Ability to interpret PWB/CCA technical data packages
• Proficiency with the Valor NPI automated DFM tool suite
• Knowledge of industry IPC standards, including IPC-6012, IPC-2221, J-STD-001, and IPC-7351

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with design and producibility tools such as Mentor xDM, PCAT, POLAR SPEEDSTACK, or VALOR NPI
• Experience with Raytheon PWB/CCA technology Manufacturing Design Rules and Guidelines (MDRGs)
• Prior experience supporting aerospace or defense-related products
• Expertise in component selection for military and aerospace environments
• IPC CID or CID+ certification
