About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical development of new products and improvements for existing products, focusing on injected plastic components and mechanical subassemblies.
- Create technical projects using SolidWorks and AutoCAD, including 3D modeling, 2D detailing, and engineering documentation.
- Design and optimize plastic injection tooling solutions, considering DFM, gate definition, cooling systems, and cycle time optimization.
- Collaborate with toolmakers, suppliers, and manufacturing teams during mold development, modification, try-outs, and debugging.
- Participate in technical try-out phases (T0/T1/T2), dimensional validation, and technical approval of tooling.
- Perform technical analyses to resolve quality issues, dimensional deviations, cosmetic defects, and process instabilities.
- Manage engineering changes, Bill of Materials (BOM) maintenance, and technical specifications.
- Identify cost-reduction opportunities through design improvements, material optimization, and process gains.
- Conduct structured root cause analysis using methodologies such as 8D, 5 Whys, and Ishikawa.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Product, Production Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in product development, tooling, or a manufacturing environment involving plastic injection.
- Solid experience in the development of injected plastic components.
- Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Practical experience with the development, modification, try-out, and troubleshooting of injection molds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Moldflow or injection simulation software.
- Proficiency in English and/or Spanish.
