Product Design & Release Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and engineering release of HVAC control modules, user interfaces, and environmental sensors.
• Author technical source packages, engineering specifications, and functional requirements.
• Manage supplier deliverables to ensure compliance with program milestones and vehicle launch timing.
• Collaborate with HVAC Software, Calibration, and Systems Engineering teams to integrate hardware and software into vehicle architecture.
• Manage Engineering Change Notices (CN) and maintain the Bill of Materials (BOM).
• Investigate and resolve technical issues identified during development, prototype builds, and plant launches.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering.
• 5+ years of direct experience in automotive design and release (DRE) for HVAC control modules, sensors, or complex electronic components.
• Proven track record in supplier management and cross-functional leadership within an OEM or Tier 1 environment.
• Strong organizational, project management, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Proficiency with DFMEA, DVP&R, Control Plans, and Agile methodologies.
• Understanding of vehicle architecture, including CAN/LIN bus protocols and electronic circuit analysis.
• Hands-on experience with NX and Teamcenter for CAD data management.
• Experience with quality tools such as Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) or problem-solving methodologies like 8D or Kepner-Tregoe.
• Direct experience supporting automotive assembly plant builds and vehicle program launches.
