Product Design Lead

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture, strategy, and evolution of the design system including components, tokens, patterns, and documentation
• Design and ship production-ready components with high craft, including states, variants, and accessibility
• Partner with frontend engineering to ensure system decisions translate cleanly into code
• Create clear documentation, usage guidance, and contribution standards
• Build and maintain governance models to balance system integrity with product speed
• Conduct regular audits to identify inconsistencies and improve design-to-code parity
• Lead the evaluation and integration of AI-powered design tooling and generative workflows

Requirements

• 7+ years of product design experience
• 3+ years owning or significantly contributing to a design system
• Outstanding portfolio demonstrating systems-level thinking and component craft
• Expert-level Figma skills including component architecture, variables, and tokens
• Proficiency in design-to-code workflows using Storybook and GitHub
• Strong understanding of front-end fundamentals like HTML, CSS, and React
• Deep knowledge of accessibility standards
• Strong written communication skills for documentation

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience integrating AI tools into design and development workflows
• Background in open-source design systems
• Familiarity with design-to-code automation tools
• Experience in enterprise SaaS, fintech, or complex data-dense environments
