Product Design Engineering Co-op

Responsibilities

• Generate new product concepts with a user-centered approach focusing on ergonomics, aesthetics, and functional innovation
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define solutions meeting functional requirements
• Lead and participate in design studies to solve technical and user-experience challenges
• Build and test quick turnaround, low fidelity prototypes
• Translate ambiguous user needs into feasible, high-impact design solutions

Requirements

• Current student in 3rd year or beyond of a bachelor's program, master's student, or within one year of graduation
• Academic focus in Industrial Design, Product Design Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
• Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, or Rhino)
• Experience with 3D printing and basic prototyping tools
• Hands-on experience building physical prototypes in plastic or metal
• Familiarity with machine shop equipment
• Portfolio required demonstrating design and engineering process

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic understanding of electronics and components (motors, sensors, PCBAs)
• Experience with rapid prototyping tools like Arduino or Raspberry Pi
• Strong intuition for mechanical engineering and physics principles
