About the role
Responsibilities
- Design new products and develop product improvements based on functional specifications using engineering principles and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Perform machine design analysis for force, stress, and deflection of product components.
- Work with cross-functional teams to conduct design reviews and troubleshoot performance issues through root cause analysis.
- Use SolidWorks 3-D to build solid models, create cross-sectional layouts, perform tolerance stack-up analysis, and apply GD&T.
- Develop product test plans, identify necessary instrumentation, and perform validation testing.
- Manage project planning and implementation using MS Project or similar tools.
- Provide technical assistance to internal groups including Sales, Manufacturing, and Quality Control, as well as external customers and suppliers.
- Ensure the integrity of engineering documentation, including drawings, Bills of Material, and compliance with industry specifications (ASTM, ANSI, API).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of 5 years of related work experience in product design or mechanical engineering.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks 3-D design software or equivalent.
- Hands-on experience performing Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes such as casting (sand, investment, die), injection molding, machining, and metal forming.
- Ability to design optimized components and systems based on customer requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience with regulatory agency certification processes (UL, CSA, CE, NSF, ATEX).
