About the role
Responsibilities
- Design new products and develop product improvements based on functional specifications using engineering principles and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Perform machine design analysis for force, stress, and deflection of product components.
- Work with cross-functional teams to conduct design reviews and troubleshoot performance issues through root cause analysis.
- Use SolidWorks 3-D software to build solid models, create cross-sectional layouts, and perform tolerance stack-up analysis using GD&T.
- Develop product test plans, identify necessary instrumentation, and perform testing to validate new designs.
- Provide technical assistance to customers, suppliers, and internal departments including Sales, Manufacturing, and Quality Control.
- Maintain the integrity of engineering documentation, including drawings, Bills of Material, and industry specifications (ASTM, ANSI, API, etc.).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of 3 years of related work experience.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks 3-D design software and experience performing Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes for metals (wrought, cast, steel, aluminum, etc.) and plastics.
- Knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Ability to develop accurate project plans and communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
