Product Counsel Lead

Responsibilities

• Act as a trusted advisor to Product, Engineering, Design, and Business teams on Autonomy and AI issues including privacy, data protection, and accessibility
• Lead cross-functional projects related to compliance, safety, and IP protection
• Review product integrations for compliance with contractual obligations, data protection laws, and IP rights
• Translate legal advice into actionable guidance for engineering teams
• Manage the patenting program and advise on IP strategy
• Build systems, policies, and playbooks to address risk and ensure compliance
• Review and edit customer contracts, inbound contracts, and marketing materials
• Assist with M&A transactions

Requirements

• 8+ years of law firm and/or in-house experience, preferably in technology companies
• J.D. degree from an accredited law school and active membership in one state bar
• Experience advising on regulatory requirements and risk mitigation for new technologies
• Experience counseling business partners on domestic and international laws and regulations
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, execution-focused environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Computer science or engineering degree
• Familiarity with machine learning, autonomy, and generative models
• Privacy certifications such as CIPP-E, CIPP-US, or CIPM
