About the role

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day activities and workloads of Buyers and Procurement & Logistics Processors
  • Lead the community of practice for Buyers to share experiences, identify efficiencies, and ensure best practices
  • Coach, mentor, and provide clear direction to staff to ensure high levels of collaboration and training
  • Oversee operational issue resolution and ensure service delivery meets established Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Develop and communicate new procurement policies, procedures, and training materials
  • Partner with Sourcing and Procurement Partnership teams to assess and deliver Faculty and Administrative Unit needs
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and internal service metrics
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements and continuous improvement related to compliance and user experience

Requirements

  • University degree in a relevant discipline or a two-year diploma in Purchasing Management
  • Minimum of 4 years of related experience in procurement or supply chain management
  • Expert knowledge of the end-to-end public procurement cycle
  • Proven ability to lead a team and provide clear instructions to diverse skillsets
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Commitment to enhancing awareness and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion

Preferred Qualifications

  • Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) or equivalent designation
  • ERP experience with Workday or Planon
  • Demonstrated experience in business process optimization and planning
  • Experience negotiating deals on behalf of academic or administrative units
