About the role

Responsibilities

  • Reconcile purchasing card statements and process accounts payable, journal entries, and expense reimbursements
  • Issue purchase requisitions and analyze quotations for scientific equipment and consumables
  • Liaise with internal and external contacts to facilitate procurement processes and coordinate shipping/receiving
  • Verify compliance with University procurement policies and act as the first point of contact for purchasing enquiries
  • Maintain centralized databases for inventory and purchases, recording detailed transactions in FIS
  • Provide technical guidance for purchases under $50,000 and support staff scientists with procurement needs

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Computer Science, or a related Science field
  • Minimum 3 years of recent experience in the procurement of scientific equipment
  • Proven experience with purchase card reconciliation, accounts payable, and expense reimbursement
  • Experience using scientific knowledge to evaluate quotes from equipment and consumable suppliers
  • Proficiency with FIS and/or inventory management systems/databases
  • Strong skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and excellent written/verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within STEM research environments
  • Prior knowledge of University of Toronto procurement and finance administration procedures
