About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead incident investigations and conduct comprehensive root cause analyses to prevent recurrence.
- Perform and validate process safety leak calculations and analyze safety metrics to identify trends.
- Develop Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools for the analysis of incident data, Management of Change (MOCs), and audits to enhance hazard recognition.
- Review recommendations from incident investigations and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) to ensure effective implementation of corrective actions.
- Provide engineering expertise regarding hazard identification, facility siting modeling, PHA, LOPA, and Risk Management Plans (RMP).
- Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to provide technical support and mitigate process safety risks.
- Support and lead process safety audits, assurance activities, and regulatory inspections.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED with 10 years of relevant experience in a process industry (refining, midstream, or petrochemical) OR
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Petroleum, or related) with 2 years of relevant experience OR
- Bachelor’s degree in an HES-related field with 5 years of relevant experience in a process industry.
- Working knowledge of implementing process safety elements.
- Understanding of PSM and RMP regulatory requirements and industry-recommended practices.
- Ability to apply qualitative and quantitative process safety risk evaluation methods (e.g., MOC, PHA, LOPA).
- Valid driver's license.

- Experience developing or utilizing AI tools for data analysis and hazard recognition.
- Strong communication skills in both written and verbal formats.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
