Process Safety Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own and scale Rondo's global risk-based Process Safety Management (PSM) program across multiple international jurisdictions.
• Define and implement global PHA methodologies (HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA) and personally facilitate high-risk, complex studies.
• Manage the global PHA action register, driving accountability and closure of high-risk actions with engineering owners.
• Serve as the mandatory process safety reviewer within the Management of Change (MOC) process and oversee Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR).
• Build global process safety competency by developing training programs and establishing a network of local facilitators and champions.

Requirements

• BS in chemical, mechanical, process, or a related engineering discipline.
• 10–15+ years of process or process safety engineering experience.
• Proven track record of independently facilitating full HAZOP/PHA studies.
• Extensive experience with PSM elements including PSSR, PSI, and incident investigation.
• Ability to apply functional safety lifecycle practices (IEC 61511) and SIF/SIL determination.
• Willingness to travel internationally (approximately 25–40%).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with first-of-a-kind or novel technology hazard analysis.
• Background in energy storage, batteries, power generation, or high-temperature/molten-media systems.
• Hands-on functional safety experience (FMEDA, SIL verification, SIS design).
• TÜV Functional Safety Engineer certification or CCPSC (CCPS Certified Process Safety Professional).
• Experience harmonizing process safety programs across different regulatory regimes (e.g., Seveso, WHS).
