Process Modeling Engineer

Responsibilities

• Develop, validate, and maintain physics-based process models including heat/mass transfer, reaction kinetics, and fluid dynamics
• Build and apply data-driven models using statistical, machine learning, or hybrid approaches to identify optimization opportunities
• Conduct steady-state and dynamic simulations for process design, capacity analysis, and energy efficiency assessments
• Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis by using modeling to reproduce plant behavior and test hypotheses
• Establish modeling standards, documentation practices, and validation protocols to ensure consistency across the organization
• Design and deliver training programs and workshops for engineers and technical staff on modeling tools and methodologies
• Collaborate with R&D, operations, and capital project teams to translate lab data into full-scale manufacturing models

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Process Modeling, Computational Methods, or a related field
• 3+ years of experience in process engineering, process modeling, or advanced analytics within chemical or materials manufacturing
• Strong experience with process simulation tools such as Aspen Plus, Aspen HYSYS, or CHEMCAD
• Proficiency in developing data-driven models using Python, MATLAB, JMP, or machine learning platforms
• Strong foundation in transport phenomena, thermodynamics, kinetics, and unit operations
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex modeling results to both technical and non-technical audiences

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with dynamic modeling, digital twins, or real-time optimization
• Demonstrated leadership in driving technical standards or programs across cross-functional teams
