Process Engineering Intern

About the Company

fab2 is an early-stage hardware startup founded by Sam Zeloof and Jim Keller. The team designs and builds the hardware, software, tools, and components required for chip fabrication from the ground up.

Responsibilities

• Design and run experiments alongside senior process engineers
• Read academic papers and technical literature to inform experimental design
• Learn and operate semiconductor tools including deposition, etch, lithography, and metrology systems
• Develop, transfer, and optimize process recipes across platforms
• Analyze process data, troubleshoot recipe or equipment issues, and document findings

Requirements

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in engineering
• Hands-on experience with wafer fabrication tools (etch, deposition, patterning)
• Experience with metrology tools (AFM, SEM, thin film measurement, etc.)
• Experience in recipe development and optimization for thin film deposition, dry etch, or lithography
• Strong foundation in theoretical semiconductor knowledge
• Ability to learn quickly and troubleshoot technical problems

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with data processing in Python
• Mechanical or maintenance experience with fab tools
