About the role

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute experiments to develop robust manufacturing processes for cell therapy products
  • Lead and manage development studies for cell-based drug candidates designed to treat diabetes
  • Mentor a team of bioprocess scientific associates within a cross-functional environment
  • Develop expertise in pluripotent stem cell culture and differentiation to support process optimization
  • Use engineering principles to solve complex technical issues and document results in electronic lab notebooks
  • Perform statistical analysis and advanced analytics on experimental data
  • Generate and review technical protocols and reports
  • Communicate progress and escalate business-critical issues regarding supply and timelines

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biology, or a related discipline
  • 6+ years of experience with a Bachelor's, 3+ years with a Master's, or 0-3 years with a PhD
  • Expertise in cell culture process development for biologics or cell therapy products
  • Experience with bioreactor process control, design, and scale-up principles
  • Proficiency in Design of Experiments (DOE) and statistical analysis using tools such as JMP
  • Strong knowledge of aseptic technique and GMP requirements
  • Experience with various bioreactor platforms including stirred tank reactors and AMBR systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with pluripotent stem cell culture in both adherent and suspension formats
  • Proficiency with online and inline analytical tools and bioreactor feeding technologies
