Process Controls Engineer

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical lead for plant automation, process control systems, and electrical infrastructure
• Design, program, and maintain PLC, HMI, PID control loops, and VFD systems
• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and process control issues to improve plant reliability
• Lead and support capital projects, including control system upgrades and migrations
• Act as the primary contact for process control systems, data historians, and control networks
• Identify and implement automation improvements to enhance safety, efficiency, and product quality
• Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and operations teams to support production and quality goals
• Lead investigations into process control incidents and implement corrective actions

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in automation, process control, or electrical engineering within a manufacturing environment
• Hands-on experience with PLC programming (Rockwell preferred) and HMI configuration
• Strong knowledge of instrumentation, control systems architecture, and process control principles
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical drawings, and control logic diagrams
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to support a 24/7 manufacturing operation as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in high-hazard, food, or regulated manufacturing environments
• Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) elements such as PHA and MOC
• Experience standardizing or optimizing plant-wide automation and control systems
