Process Control Engineer

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise and engineering support for manufacturing facility automation, instrumentation, and process control systems.
• Promote and justify plant automation concepts, including DCS/PLC systems, interlock systems, and data acquisition.
• Assist with new product introductions, equipment capability assessments, and capital project scope definition.
• Implement formal systems to analyze quality, reduce process variation, and improve cycle times.
• Maintain accurate flow diagrams, electrical diagrams, equipment specifications, and Interlock Matrices.
• Train production operators and supervisors on unit operations, chemistries, and DCS enhancements.
• Support plant safety performance through participation in safety reviews, management of change (MOC), and process hazard analysis.

Requirements

• BS in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering (other engineering disciplines considered).
• 5+ years of engineering experience in Process and Project Engineering areas.
• Strong background in the chemical industry.
• Expertise in process instrumentation and automation.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and engineering spreadsheets/calculations.
• Familiarity with engineering and safety standards, specifically OSHA PSM.
• Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and solve complex problems with innovative approaches.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of LOPA (Layer of Protection Analysis), HAZOP, or Critical Task Analysis.
• Experience with statistical software such as Minitab or relational databases.
• Knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies.
• Experience with OSI PI systems.
