Process Chemist

Responsibilities

• Execute and oversee complex laboratory work, primarily GC and LC, to support manufacturing decisions and process performance evaluations.
• Provide real-time troubleshooting on the manufacturing floor to ensure timely resolution of analytical questions.
• Design and execute statistically sound experiments, including DOE, to interpret complex datasets and provide risk-based recommendations.
• Lead process performance evaluations, robustness studies, and root cause analysis for deviations, CAPA, and complaints.
• Partner cross-functionally with QC, QA, R&D, and Global Operations to align analytical strategies with product requirements.
• Author, review, and approve high-quality technical documentation, including protocols, validation reports, and investigations.
• Drive continuous improvement of chromatography capabilities, including equipment maintenance and method robustness.

Requirements

• BS in Polymer Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of hands-on experience with gas chromatography (GC) and liquid chromatography (HPLC/UHPLC).
• Expertise in polymer/monomer synthesis and formulation within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Broad working knowledge of analytical detectors such as MS, UV, FID, and ECD.
• Strong technical writing skills for authoring protocols and investigation reports.
• Demonstrated commitment to laboratory safety, quality systems, and data integrity.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in a relevant scientific discipline.
• Experience with LCMS and/or GCMS for trace analysis and impurity profiling.
• Knowledge of additional analytical techniques such as NMR, SEM, or Karl Fischer.
• Experience working in GMP or regulated environments, including change control and CAPA.
• Familiarity with method validation, method transfer, and statistical tools.
