Privacy Legal Advisor

Responsibilities

• Provide privacy legal advice and advisory support to HP Business Units and Global Functions
• Review, draft, and negotiate privacy-related contractual provisions, including data processing and sharing agreements
• Support the maintenance and periodic updates of HP standard privacy contractual templates
• Advise on the application of global privacy laws and regulations
• Support privacy risk assessments and DPIAs, including identifying risks and proposing mitigations
• Partner with stakeholders to ensure privacy by design is implemented across operations
• Support the legal assessment of personal data breaches and notification obligations
• Provide guidance on data subject requests (DSRs) and complex sensitive cases
• Support regulatory, audit, and compliance activities

Requirements

• Degree in Law or a related discipline
• 7-10 years of experience in privacy and data protection within a law firm, in-house, or regulatory role
• Demonstrated experience negotiating commercial and data protection agreements
• Solid knowledge of GDPR and global privacy frameworks
• Strong contract drafting and review skills
• Ability to translate complex legal concepts for non-legal audiences

Preferred Qualifications

• State Bar Membership
• Privacy certifications such as IAPP CIPP/E or equivalent
