Privacy Counsel

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on global privacy, data protection, and information security laws and regulations
• Draft and negotiate privacy and security terms in legal agreements, including data processing agreements
• Monitor and advise on evolving privacy and data laws and regulations
• Support business units by identifying regulatory requirements, mitigating risks, and conducting privacy reviews for new initiatives
• Support privacy and information security compliance programs, including impact assessments, audits, and policy development
• Partner with Product, Engineering, and Information Security teams to ensure privacy requirements align with business objectives during product development
• Research and respond to inquiries related to EU/UK GDPR, CCPA, PIPEDA, and other privacy matters

Requirements

• 2-4 years of legal experience in privacy and data protection in a private practice or in-house environment
• Member in good standing with an applicable bar in Canada, the US, or the UK
• Proven experience with EU/UK GDPR, CCPA, PIPEDA, and COPPA
• Experience negotiating data processing agreements and commercial contracts
• Strong written and verbal communication and advocacy skills
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple matters simultaneously
