About the role

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a liaison between Sinclair Community College and the London Correctional Institution administration, warden, and educational staff
  • Assess instructional needs and collaborate with SCC department chairs to develop and implement certificate programs for incarcerated learners
  • Orient instructional faculty to teaching within a correctional setting and the diverse needs of incarcerated adult learners
  • Oversee support services including placement testing, academic advising, registration, textbooks, and tutoring
  • Supervise the assistant coordinator in managing day-to-day operational activities
  • Ensure compliance with all policies and regulations of the London Correctional Institution, the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (DRC), and SCC
  • Manage facilities and equipment related to program delivery to ensure security protocols are strictly followed

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum of 1 year of professional experience in a correctional, law enforcement, or higher education setting
  • Proven ability to exercise leadership and develop educational programs in complex environments
  • Working knowledge of the criminal justice system
  • Strong professional oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse constituents, including faculty, administrators, and incarcerated individuals
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn college-related databases
  • Ability to pass a DRC background check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role or an educational setting
