Principal/Staff AI Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own major pillars of the quality stack and tune agent behavior for next-generation agentic coding tasks
• Design and evolve pipelines and tooling for large-scale experimentation and iteration on prompts, tools, and workflows
• Lead postmortems on quality regressions and translate failure modes into prioritized roadmaps
• Align product, infra, and applied AI teams on quality standards for critical customer workflows
• Ensure quality systems are dependable through reproducible runs, stable datasets, and versioning

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field
• 10+ years of experience shipping AI/ML-backed software in production
• Staff-level experience in technical direction, cross-team delivery, and mentoring
• Proven track record building eval harnesses and experimentation loops for LLM/agent systems
• Proficiency in at least two of Python, TypeScript, or Go
• Exceptional communication skills for technical write-ups and cross-functional influence

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher
• Experience with data engineering pipelines (dbt, Airflow), data modeling, or retrieval systems
• Deep experience with agentic coding tools like IDE or CLI agents
• Background in LLM observability, safety/guardrails, or production quality systems
