Principal/Sr. Principal Electrical R&D Test Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering, design, and prototype development of electro-mechanical systems and software for autonomous vehicles
• Conduct applied research, document findings, and present reports to internal stakeholders
• Develop and review design documents for parts, sub-systems, and fully integrated systems
• Lead proof of concept, functionality, and reliability testing in laboratory and marine environments
• Identify trends in runtime and failures of components through analysis of expansive datasets
• Lead troubleshooting, diagnostics, and resolution of complex electrical and system-level issues
• Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, software, and autonomy teams
• Interface with vendors to evaluate components and ensure system performance

Requirements

• BS or MS in electrical engineering, robotics engineering, mechatronics engineering, or similar
• 7-16 years of relevant experience
• Expertise in power calculations, low voltage, and 3-phase AC
• Proficiency in electrical schematic development and SPICE based circuit simulations
• Experience with PCB design and development
• Knowledge of networking protocols including Ethernet, CAN J1939, and serial
• Proficiency in Rust, C/C++, Linux, and Python
• Experience with sensor and data acquisition

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing electrical systems for autonomous or robotic vehicle platforms
• Experience in marine, defense, aerospace, or automotive environments
• Familiarity with environmental ruggedization (shock, vibration, thermal, EMI/EMC)
• Experience mentoring engineers or technicians
