About the role
Responsibilities
- Own the Workforce Platform architecture, defining and evolving technical systems for integrations with HR systems (Workday, ADP, SAP SuccessFactors), payroll providers, and government databases.
- Lead engineering execution by setting priorities, removing blockers, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and secure software.
- Design employment verification APIs and data workflows, including income verification, I-9/E-Verify integrations, and benefits eligibility checks.
- Manage and develop a high-performing engineering team (SDE II through Staff), conducting performance reviews and fostering career growth.
- Partner cross-functionally with Product, Legal, Compliance, and Security teams to translate complex regulatory requirements into technical roadmaps.
- Ensure platform reliability, security, and compliance with frameworks such as FCRA, EEOC, and state privacy laws.
- Champion an AI-forward engineering culture by driving the adoption of AI tooling for code generation, testing, and documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of software engineering experience.
- 3+ years of experience in an engineering management or Tech Lead Manager (TLM) capacity leading teams of 5–10+ engineers.
- 5+ years of experience with backend engineering and distributed systems (Java, Go, Ruby, Python, or similar).
- Proven experience building B2B or enterprise integrations involving large-scale data exchange or API automation.
- Deep familiarity with data privacy, security, and compliance standards for sensitive personal data.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to represent technical decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Experience in HR tech, payroll, or employment verification (e.g., familiarity with Workday, ADP, or The Work Number).
- Understanding of regulatory frameworks like FCRA, I-9/E-Verify, and VOIE standards.
- Experience building identity or trust-layer products in regulated industries like government, healthcare, or finance.
- Hands-on experience with OAuth2, OpenID Connect, SAML, and enterprise SSO.
- Experience in a high-growth startup environment with a strong bias for execution.
