About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead development of next-generation data center reference architectures across electrical, mechanical, thermal, and compute domains
- Scan the industry for emerging technologies and lead structured full-system evaluations
- Define and maintain systems-level architecture for infrastructure layer interfaces and co-optimization
- Guide technologies from bench-scale testing through pilot deployment to hyperscale rollout
- Serve as principal technical voice on infrastructure architecture and drive feasibility assessments
- Author system specifications, interface control documents, and design standards
- Partner with engineering teams as R&D’s primary technical interface
- Build technical relationships with vendors, startups, OEMs, academic groups, and national laboratories
- Advise leadership on technology choices supporting long-term growth strategy
Requirements
- 15+ years in data center design, large-scale infrastructure, or hyperscale computing
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering
- Systems thinking across power, thermal, compute, and facility design
- Experience authoring architecture documents and integration standards
- Cross-functional leadership and ability to influence without direct authority
- Exceptional communication with both engineering peers and executive leadership
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct hyperscale systems architecture or principal engineering experience
- Experience with modular or containerized data center design and deployment
- Familiarity with DC power distribution architectures
- Experience with HPC and GPU-accelerated AI infrastructure at scale
- Background in mission-critical facility design with understanding of redundancy and reliability
