Principal Systems Engineer

About the Company

Red 6 is an innovative Augmented Reality (AR) technology startup leading the way in synthetic air combat training. Their primary technology enables pilots to simulate the cognitive challenges of flying while accessing realistic, scalable training in dynamic outdoor environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop, decompose, and manage system and subsystem requirements
• Establish and maintain the Requirements Verification Traceability Matrix (RVTM)
• Develop and manage Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
• Lead and support design milestone reviews including SRR, PDR, CDR, and SVR
• Apply Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies using SysML
• Conduct trade studies and technical analysis to support design decisions
• Manage allocations of weight, power, and other system resources
• Coordinate system integration and verification in lab and aircraft environments
• Identify and manage technical risks

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems, Aerospace, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering
• 8 to 12 years of experience in aerospace, defense, or mission-critical systems
• Firm grasp of the systems engineering development lifecycle
• Proficiency with requirements management tools
• Experience authoring ICDs, Concepts of Operation, and Trade Studies
• Experience leading formal design milestone reviews
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Engineering or Physics
• INCOSE ASEP or CSEP Certification
• Experience with AR/VR technologies and head-mounted displays
• Knowledge of MIL-STD documentation and defense acquisition processes
• Familiarity with avionics systems or aircraft integration
• Experience with MBSE tools like Cameo, MagicDraw, or Rhapsody
• Familiarity with airworthiness certification processes
