Principal Systems Engineer

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for EO/IR infrared focal plane array (IR FPA) programs and special projects
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including Systems, Test, Software, Firmware, Mechanical, and Electrical engineers
• Manage engineering risks and opportunities to ensure proactive project execution
• Coordinate engineering inputs for proposals and present bid summaries to management
• Oversee and direct trade studies, presenting comprehensive results to key stakeholders
• Lead technical teams to identify and resolve hardware, software, and system issues through data analysis
• Manage the development and maintenance of requirements, concepts of operations, and system interfaces
• Plan and execute root-cause and corrective-action (RCCA) efforts

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related STEM discipline and minimum 8 years of relevant experience (or advanced degree with 5+ years)
• Extensive experience with EO/IR systems, including design, analysis, development, and testing
• Deep knowledge of infrared focal plane array (IR FPA) technology and its applications
• Proven experience in system design activities, including trade studies and performance assessments
• Ability to develop product specifications and manage complex system-level requirements
• U.S. citizenship is required
• Active and existing DoD Secret security clearance is required

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with formal design and test reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR)
• Direct experience with IR FPA design and testing for tactical or space environments
• Familiarity with vacuum packaging, dewar design, cryogenic cooling, or opto-mechanics
• Proficiency with requirements management tools such as DOORS or CAMEO
• Experience with analytical modeling and scripting, specifically MATLAB
• Knowledge of ROIC wafer probing, fabrication, and integration
