Principal System Engineer, Application

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of systems engineers through coaching, performance management, and capability building
• Provide technical leadership for application-level systems, ensuring robust decomposition, requirements management, and traceability
• Drive system-level design decisions, technical trade-offs, and issue resolution in complex environments
• Ensure all systems engineering activities comply with regulatory standards including ISO 13485, ISO 14971, and IEC 60601
• Align application-level systems with broader product architectures to ensure interoperability
• Champion systems thinking and best practices across the entire product lifecycle
• Support product family engineering by guiding system configuration and architectural reuse

Requirements

• Extensive experience in systems engineering for complex, multi-component products in regulated environments
• Proven people leadership capability, including team building and performance management
• Strong knowledge of systems engineering methodologies, requirements management, and verification frameworks
• Experience working within medical device regulatory and quality standards (ISO 13485, ISO 14971, IEC 60601)
• Ability to lead technical decision-making under ambiguity and influence cross-functional stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to application-level architectures within embedded or medical device ecosystems
• Experience driving product family engineering or architectural reuse strategies across complex product portfolios
